Experience

Ben Poole Editorial Services • June 2011 - Present
Freelance Writer and Editor

After five years at my previous company, I decided to leave to pursue my dream of running my own business. My focus is on the corporate finance and transaction banking space. I enjoy having a mixed portfolio, both in terms of the types of projects I work on and the clients that I work with. I write feature articles under my own byline and also offer a ghostwriting service, and can tailor the content to both web and print formats. I regularly moderate webinars and appear on podcasts, both as host and contributor. I have experience in television, working for SibosTV on conference television programming in Toronto 2011 and Osaka 2012. In this role I write all of the scripts for the main anchor's programmes throughout the week, as well as direct the ENG crew and shoot additional VTs around the conference venue. Additionally I am available for proof reading, conference programme planning, and editorial consultancy across the wide range of corporate finance and transaction banking topics. My clients have included: Bank of America Merrill Lynch; BNP Paribas; CTMfile; EuroFinance; gtnews; GTR; HSBC; Jack Morton Worldwide; J. P. Morgan; SWIFT; Treasury Management International (TMI); Treasury Strategies; and Treasury Today.

gtnews • June 2006 - June 2011
Editor

As Editor of gtnews, I was responsible for the company's editorial output. I planned the weekly editorial focus topics and commissioned five to eight articles for 25 topics per year. I wrote many articles and features for web and print, event commentaries, live conference blogs, new gtnews surveys, a weekly newsletter blog for the gtnews Weekly Bulletin e-newsletter and the quarterly Editor’s Comment for Global Treasury Briefing. I also very much enjoyed launching live events for the first time in the company's history - I moderated 'An Evening With gtnews', the company's first ever live event, and delivered a programme of content and speakers for the first two 'Global Corporate Treasurers Forum Europe' events in London 2010 and Paris 2011. I also launched the European Treasurers Council, creating the programme and personally selecting members to join this exclusive club of European treasury professionals. As Editor of gtnews, I was also a speaker at major treasury conferences in Europe and Latin America on invitation from organisations such as BNP Paribas, IQPC and SunGard. I have also moderated webinars for SunGard, SWIFT and Fundtech.

Palladian Publications • August 2002 - May 2006
Editor

I began my career in journalism at Palladian Publications, based in Farnham, Surrey. Starting as an editorial assistant, I worked my way up to become editor of one of the company's magazines within two years. Palladian Publications has a good reputation for giving graduates both great opportunities and on-the-job training, and I was lucky to benefit from both during my time there.
